A Message from Tom

Tom Marsico

Tom Marsico, Founder, Chief Executive Officer and
Chief Investment Officer of Marsico Capital Management

From the day we opened our doors to investors in 1997 we at Marsico Capital have been singularly focused on one thing – stock picking. We are dedicated to generating strong long-term returns for our clients through a select set of concentrated growth equity portfolios.

We have consistently applied the same growth oriented investment philosophy since the inception of our firm. Our philosophy is rooted in the belief that, over time, investors can compound returns above the benchmark by investing in high quality companies that are gaining market share in large and addressable markets. Our uncompromising, hands-on research is a cornerstone of our investment process. When we find an investment idea that we like, we invest with conviction.

I, along with many others at Marsico Capital Management, invest in the Marsico Funds. We understand that performance and superior service are critical to our success and yours. As an independent asset manager, we are fiercely committed to fulfilling these goals.

I want to thank you for your interest in our firm and invite you to further explore our website or contact our Shareholder Services team to learn more about the Marsico Funds.

Investments in mutual funds carry risks and investors may lose principal value. Click here for the principal risks of investing in the Funds. Please read the prospectus carefully before investing as it explains the risks associated with investing in the mutual funds.

The International Opportunities Fund may, at times, experience higher-than-average portfolio turnover which may generate significant taxable gains and increased trading expenses which in turn may lower the Fund’s return.

The Morningstar RatingTM for funds, or "star rating", is calculated for managed products (including mutual funds, variable annuity and variable life subaccounts, exchange-traded funds, closed-end funds, and separate accounts) with at least a three-year history. Exchange-traded funds and open-ended mutual funds are considered a single population for comparative purposes. It is calculated based on a Morningstar Risk-Adjusted Return measure that accounts for variation in a managed product's monthly excess performance, placing more emphasis on downward variations and rewarding consistent performance. The top 10% of products in each product category receive 5 stars, the next 22.5% receive 4 stars, the next 35% receive 3 stars, the next 22.5% receive 2 stars, and the bottom 10% receive 1 star. The Overall Morningstar Rating for a managed product is derived from a weighted average of the performance figures associated with its three-, five-, and 10-year (if applicable) Morningstar Rating metrics. The weights are: 100% three-year rating for 36-59 months of total returns, 60% five-year rating/40% three-year rating for 60-119 months of total returns, and 50% 10-year rating/30% five-year rating/20% three-year rating for 120 or more months of total returns. While the 10-year overall star rating formula seems to give the most weight to the 10-year period, the most recent three-year period actually has the greatest impact because it is included in all three rating periods. ©Morningstar, Inc.
